Welcome Message from Pete Schofield,
Director Development, Testing and Operations
I am delighted you are considering a role in HMRC's CDIO Development, Testing and Operations team.
This is not the Civil Service as you know it! HMRC is going through a massive digital revolution unparalleled across Government. We are building an exceptional team of highly skilled and knowledgeable senior IT leaders from diverse backgrounds across both private and public sectors. Our Chief Digital Information Officer, Mark Dearnley, joined HMRC from Vodafone 18 months ago and I joined shortly afterwards. I have 30 years of FTSE 100 blue chip experience - most recently at Marks and Spencer.
We are fundamentally transforming the way people and businesses are able to deal with their tax affairs. Our ambition is for them to be able to interact with us through personalised, multi-strand digital services, with new channels, such as social media, providing efficient means of communication. We have already taken our first steps with the launch of online Self-Assessment and 'Your Tax Account' and there's more to come.
I want to work with passionate, energetic people who are up for the challenge of delivering transformation on a massive scale, and who already have real hands-on experience of driving through digital change. We need inspirational leaders to take people on this journey. You will be using your deep technology and leadership experience to build and run cutting edge digital services used across HMRC and, importantly, directly by UK citizens.
You will be accountable for creating and running the biggest changes we have seen in generations to collect the revenues that allow UK public services to be delivered. If you are passionate about how technology can improve our customers' experience, and you are eager to deliver excellent service fast, this will be a thoroughly rewarding role. It really is hugely exciting to be involved in such a transformational agenda in an organisation with 50 million customers across the UK and an annual revenue of £505 billion.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Pete Schofield
